The Weaponry Museum, housed in the castle, was inaugurated in June 1992 and an addition was made to it in October 1997. It contains a rich assemblage of rare pieces, some of which are of great beauty. Weapons and other pieces for hunting signed by Franz Mazemkof, a rifle by Bartolomeu Gomes, an English blunderbuss with six barrels (c. 1850), and the gun used by the Royal Prince in the 1908’s regicide are just a few of the treasures on show. Other noteworthy exhibits include the exotic weapons of King Fernando II’s collection, the American weapons of King D. Carlos, and his hunting guns.
