Existing since 1993 and run by the ‘Os Montanheiros’, an association for geological research on the Azores, this small geological museum documents the formation of Terceira and the other islands of the archipelago. It also displays fossils and rock specimens gathered by the Speleological Exploration Society during their explorations in caves and volcanic tunnels. It also contains a curious photo exposition of volcanic phenomenon. This museum is a must for any visitors interested in volcanoes and the formation of the Azores.
