The picturesque village of Vilar de Mouros lies some 6 km northeast of Caminha in beautiful surroundings and adjacent to the protected park of the same name. It is also the setting for the popular festival of modern music held every August, the first of its kind in Portugal. Quite apart from its natural beauty, Vilar de Mouros is worth visiting to see the parish church of Santa Eulália, built in the 15th century by Francisco Lourenço. The church was renovated in the 17th and 18th centuries and combines Manueline, Renaissance and Baroque styles.
