Vila Velha de Ródão is located by the River Tagus, about 33 km southwest of Castelo Branco. The 16th century Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios has a single nave and walls covered with 18th century blue and white azulejo panels, other features are the stone sculpture of the patron saint, a wooden carving of the infant Jesus and the high altar. Other attractions in the area include the Portas do Ródão on the Tagus River with magnificent views, the remains of the castle and a number of other churches.
