The town of Vila Nova de Foz Côa is located 19 km southwest of Torre de Moncorvo. It is not only the starting point for a visit to the rock art paintings of the Archaeological Park of the Vale do Côa, but has other attractions worth visiting. In the Largo do Município is the 16th century Manueline style parish church. About 12 km west, in Freixo de Numão, you can visit the archaeological and ethnological Museu da Casa Grande. A further 13 km brings you to Numão and the remains of the old castle with several anthropomorphic tombs near the eastern gate.
