The Vila do Conde beach is a stretch of sand extending, almost without break, for six kilometres to the north of the River Ave. It is in fact several beaches, whose names are taken from the nearest café or restaurant or their particular use, such as Turismo beach close to the urban area and Azul beach popular with surfers. The beaches have lifeguards on duty in season, parking and facilities for the disabled. The average summer seawater temperature is 16 ºC, there are restaurants and bars and umbrellas and small craft can be hired.
