Vila de Nordeste is situated in the far east of the island. It is an interesting and picturesque town. The Town Hall is an example of l9th century urban architecture. The centenary bridge had seven arches and Romanesque architecture. It is the biggest and one of the loveliest bridges on the island of São Miguel. Nordeste is a genuine nature tourism centre, with marked paths, camping and some old restored water mills open to the public. This area covers several nature reserves is a genuine paradise, providing long hikes and outstanding views across magnificent landscapes.
