Vila Cova deAlva is a beautiful mountainside village, about 19 km northeast of Arganil by Mount Acor and on the banks of the river Alva. The 1712 parish church was built over an ancient temple, there is also the Misericórdia church and the 18th century church of the Santo António Convent. The fine manor houses include the 19th century Solar Abreu Mesquita, the Solar dos Condes da Guarda, and the 17th century Casa da Praça, the old town hall and prison building. Other features include the São Sebastião fountain, 16th century Manueline pillory and an 18th century granite bridge.
