If you want to see a village that is completely unspoilt by tourism, then Vila Alva, north of Cuba, should be your next stop. The sacred art museum in the Misericórdia church is delightful, as are the village streets, where you will feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. The main church has a unique round belfry, giving interest to an otherwise austere façade. The Igreja de Santo António on the outskirts of Vila Alva is more ornate. Overall, this village has a special charm and should not be missed.
