Vieira de Leiria has managed to preserve its customs as a traditional fishing village and the boats still set out early each morning, to ensure the resort always has fresh fish. Vieira beach is a pleasant spot with good sea conditions for surfing and body boarding. Lifeguards are on duty in season, there are facilities for the disabled and parking is available. The average seawater temperature in summer is 16-18 ºC. Umbrellas can be hired and there are bars, cafes and restaurants.
