The picturesque, albeit tiny, town of Veiros is blessed with many tourist attractions. The defensive walls are the remains of a fortified structure dating back to the Middle Ages. There are three historic churches, each worthy of a visit for the beauty of their facades and interiors decorated with gilt carvings and azuelo tile panels. They are: the Church of Nossa Senhora de Mileu, whose origins are uncertain, but it is known to have been altered in the 18th century, the Church of St Salvador dating from the 16th century and the Church of Misericórdia (16th-18th century). There is also a fine Pillory and an ethnological museum.
