Situated about 23 kms northwest of Alcobaça, the small village of Vale Furado is seasonal; its beach is more sheltered than its neighbours, although smaller. The car park is a great viewpoint from which to observe the unusual shaping of the cliffs by the sea. It also has a bar. Of the two routes down to the beach the right is easier, but the left has the interest of a small waterfall. Whilst the beach is unsupervised and lacks amenities, its quality and setting are undeniable. Fishing is a popular activity. Average summer seawater temperature is 16-18 ºC.
