About 30 kilometres from Alcácer do Sal, close to the town of Torrão, is the Vale do Gaio Dam, an ideal place for walking, bicycling, boating, hunting and fishing. The Vale de Gaio pousada on the edge of the dam puts on horse-drawn coach rides and rents rowing boats to visitors. The sunsets over the dam are incredible. Nearby, on a hill overlooking Torrão, is the church of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso. The church dates from 1758 and has some beautiful sacred art as well as an interesting baptismal font.
