Founded and financed by the Secretary of Tourism, João Carlos Abreu, the Universe of Memories Museum exhibits objects from all over the world and reflects his life as a traveller, hotelier and journalist. The museum is housed in a 19th century manor house with an auditorium, tea house and gardens. Spread over fourteen rooms there are about 10,000 exhibits including books, ceramics, paintings and bronze objects and an unusual collection of carved horses. The founder has published fifteen books (five in poetry and ten in prose) and his experiences and wide interests in life are well represented by this eclectic collection.
