Now used as Albufeira town hall, the construction date of this interesting building is unknown, but it is believed to have originated during medieval times. It was severely damaged by the 1755 earthquake. It was later attacked by the bandit José Joaquim Sousa Reis known as Remexido. Much of the Algarve suffered from his brigands before his death by firing squad in Faro in 1838. Over the main doorway one can still see the Azevedo coat-of-arms. This represents the cross of the Order of Aviz and an owl in flight. The head of the Azevedo family was the Governor of Albufeira Castle.
