Torres Novas is an attractive town around the River Almonda. It has many churches including the 16th century Misericórdia below the castle, the 13th century Santiago (with 17th century additions) on Largo do Paco, São Salvador and the Nossa Senhora do Vale chapel. Close to the Vila Cardílio is the Museu Agrícola de Riachos, whilst elsewhere the Almonda Cave and the Lapas Caves are worthy of a visit. The Pául do Boquilobo Nature Reserve is about 7 km away (see separate entry under the town of Golegã).
