The Time Museum, called locally the Núcleo Museológico do Tempo, is housed in the old clock tower of Cabaças. The museum is unusual and displays items related to time through the ages, such as weather vanes, sundials, a revolving upturned pyramid and an intricate 19th century clock mechanism in a glass case. The tower is 22 metres high. There is some doubt as to its date of construction, but this seems to have been circa 1500. Considerably altered from time to time, it has now been completely restored and is a familiar local landmark with splendid views from the top.
