Located in the Praça da Ribeira, ‘The Cube’ is a 1970s modern sculpture by José Rodrigues; he was also the sculptor of the ‘Monument to the Entrepreneur’ in the Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa (see separate entry).The Cube is made of bronze and is fixed on one of its vertices. An old fountain on the site has been reconstructed and is integral to the sculpture. As with the Entrepreneur monument, water is used as a key sculptural element. Sculptured pigeons also feature alongside the live variety.
