Located downstream from the medieval bridge, off the pedestrian only tree-lined Avenida dos Plátanos, is the 15th century Santo António dos Frades church formerly part of a convent. The adjacent 18th century Igreja de São Francisco dos Terceiros is now a museum of sacred art, opened in 1974, which exhibits liturgical implements, religious statuary, 16th/17th century glazed ceramic tiles and paintings. The church itself is interesting, with an outstanding Rocaille gilded altar, an early 19th century organ, and a set of stairs attributed to the Italian Luigi Chiari.
