The Tavarede Palace has been classified as a building of Public Interest since 1982 and the local council is currently overseeing a project to renovate the building. The 16th century palace was erected by António Fernandes de Quadros, Master of the House of Buarcos and Vila Verde. Reconstruction of the north façade in the 18th century and further work in the 19th century, when pseudo-Manueline style work was carried out, damaged the building in a way which will be redressed by the present restoration.
