The Ermida de São Sebastião, located about three miles from Almeirim, is very similar to its namesake in Castro Verde. It was built on the hill of Bicadas, in a vast and isolated place, and dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. The exterior is very simple, a whitewashed triangular façade with a blue strip framing the entrance door. Inside is a single nave with a main chapel in the Mannerist style. Beautiful trompe-l’oeil paintings can be seen in the retable. The architectural style is typical of the region and it exhibits the popular characteristics of Baixo Alentejo.
