Moura has many beautiful churches all worthy of visiting, but the Igreja de São Pedro (St Peter’s Church), dating from the 17th century, deserves to be mentioned for its collection of decorated tiles of rare beauty and value. These azuelo panels are a feature of Portuguese religious art and show the lives of the saints and other biblical scenes. On the simple whitewashed facade, the small but intricately carved doorway is well worth admiring. The church is a gem and should not be missed.
