The São Vicente Church is located on the road that connects the Porta d´El Rei and the Porta da Erva. Construction of the present church commenced in 1790, on the instructions of the Bishop of Guardia to the design of António Fernandes Rodrigues. The façade has two bell-towers and the church is famous for its sixteen elaborate azulejo tile panels of the life of Christ, which are attributed to the Coimbra artist Sousa Carvalho. They depict fundamental Christian themes, the Annunciation, the Tower of David, the Visitation, the Adoration of the Magis, the Escape to Egypt and the Passion of Christ.
