The picturesque town of Sobral de Monte Agraço is about 17 km southeast of Torres Vedras and a further 3 km south will bring you to the Igreja de São Quintino. This is a National Monument and considered a fine example of the architecture of the first half of the 16th century. The church has three naves and its Manueline door combines well with Renaissance additions. The internal walls are covered with magnificent azulejo panels from the 16th and 17th centuries. The decorative bordered panels known as ‘azulejo de tapete’ (literally carpet tiles) are regarded as outstanding illustrations of this style.
