The Convent and Church of São Pedro de Alcantara is a baroque building with an interesting façade with church towers and arches. It is still a notable sight, despite the sad fact that this once magnificent complex is slowly falling into ruins. An adjacent church, which was built during the first quarter of the 18th century, is home to an almost completely gilded main altar and several valuable religious images. This building offers wonderful panoramic views of the village of São Roque and the ocean.
