Located in Óbidos, a delightful town of white houses and bougainvillea, is one of the best preserved tumular chapels in Portugal. It can be found in the Largo de São Pedro in front of St Peter’s Church. Built in 1331, on the initiative of Father Pêro Fernandes, this lovely chapel has a fine portal in the façade and has some interesting medieval tombs, whilst the overall architecture is very simple. At one stage it was the property of the Viscount of Sacavém who sold it to the Town Council.
