The São Dâmaso Church was constructed over a long period, having been started in the first half of the 17th century but only completed in the 18th century. The decorative tiled panels from the 18th century are an outstanding feature; they depict scenes from the life of the 4th century Pope St Damascus and are by an artist who is known only by his initials PMP. Also noteworthy are the coffered ceiling panels in the chancel and the carved and gilded altarpiece by local craftsman, Pedro Coelho.
