Located close to São Dinis church and cemetery, the São Brás Chapel also dates from the early days of the city, but was subject to alteration in the 18th century. Inside there is the impressive tomb of João Teixeira de Macedo, a nobleman who served with distinction in the Africa campaigns of King Afonso V. Another tomb, identified by carvings of a sword and two half-moons, is said to be that of Lourenço Viegas, son of Egas Moniz, who was squire to Afonso Henriques. Externally, under the cornice on the south side, there is some interesting and surprising carved ornamentation.
