Originally a private estate, the award winning 45 acre Serralves Foundation Park was designed between 1932 and 1940 by French architect Jacques Gréber (1882-1962). A formal garden stretches south from Serralves House for 500 metres, culminating in a stairway leading down to the Romantic lake. Other points of interest, all complemented by wooded areas, include one of the largest rose gardens in Portugal, the camellia garden, and the Relógio de Sol (Sundial). Located in the heart of Porto, with the Museum of Contemporary Art, a restaurant and café, this offers a great escape from the bustle of the city.
