The Serra da Lousa mountain range covers over 4,200 hectares (16.21 square miles) and its outdoor opportunities are the main attraction for many visitors. The highest point is Alto do Trevim at 1204 metres. Apart from hiking, the area is popular for many recreational activities, including canoeing, cycling, mountain biking, off-roading and, for the really adventurous, hang-gliding from the Cabeço da Ortiga at a height of 928 metres. The rivers and streams are ideal for trout fishing, there are many river beaches, natural pools and waterfalls and there is lot to see in terms of flora and fauna.
