Turistrela holds the tourism and sports concession for the Serra da Estrela nature park and has a 30 year history of operation. The company is responsible for the Torre ski-resort in the heart of the park at a height of 2,000 metres. This facility has undergone a full refurbishment which includes snow making equipment to enable skiing to take place on 120-150 days per year. The Serra da Estrela is ideal for many sporting activities including sports fishing, ornithology, bungee-jumping and off-road driving. Guided tours are organised and there are special events such as an accommodation linked treasure hunt.
