Doubt exists regarding the date of construction of the original Capela da Senhora Monte, believed to be the 15th century. It appears, from the date at the front door, that it was modified in the 16th century. There is an elegant porch on two sides of the entrance with an attractive window over. The church has a single nave and amongst the many graves is that of Duarte Sodré, adorned with a coat of arms and dated the 25th August 1500. The pulpit with white ionic columns is most attractive and there is a 17th century multi-coloured pieta.
