The Senhora da Conceição chapel gained its present name in 1640, at the time of the crowning of his queen consort by King João IV (1640-1656). This followed the Declaration of Independence in 1640, which ended the dual monarchy. Built in the 16th century it had been dedicated to Our Lady of Ribamar. The tiling dates from the 18th century and, whilst the altars are 17th century, the side altars are not believed to be part of the original chapel. The chalice shaped pulpit came from the Santa Cruz de Redondos church now destroyed.
