The Santo André is an old side trawler which was built in Holland in 1948 for the Aveiro Fishing Company; it is now an extension of the Ílhavo Maritime Museum. She was taken out of service as a result of the 1980s fishing restrictions and was saved from the scrap yard by the owner and the Ílhavo Municipal Council. The museum, which opened in 2001, was renovated in 2007. The 71.4 metre ship, which had a fish capacity of 2,500 tons, now illustrates the art of trawling and life and work on board when cod fishing in the Atlantic.
