The beach of Santo André is also known as the Praia dos Cabos after the long lines of rocks which divide it. It is named after, and situated close to, the chapel of St André, who locals believe will save the souls of those lost at sea and deliver them to God. The beach has a large expanse of sand and calm safe waters, with lifeguards in season and facilities for the disabled. The average summer seawater temperature is 16 ºC, parking is available, and umbrellas can be hired. There are also bar and restaurant facilities.
