With easy access by car or train, Santo Amaro Beach is very popular in summer; it is located in front of the Oeiras Gardens and stretches round the bay. Its sea conditions, particularly in winter, are popular with surfers and body boarders. The promenade is ideal for walking and cycling. The beach is used for volleyball and is illuminated at nights. Lifeguards are on duty in season and the average seawater temperature in summer is 17-19 ºC. There are facilities for the disabled, bars, cafes and restaurants and small craft and umbrellas can be hired.
