The Santa Marinha Church was founded in the 14th century, but the present Baroque building dates from 1745. It was designed by the celebrated Nicolau Nasoni (1691-1773) who was also responsible for the Clérigos Church and Tower and other major buildings in Porto. It is a single nave church and has an 18th century carved altarpiece, but perhaps the most interesting feature is the altar of Christ on the Cross. The date of this is unknown, but it is said to be associated with a miracle which occurred in 1420.
