The Romanesque Church of Santa Maria, also known as Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Ó, is located at Águas Santas close to Maia and about 9 km northwest of Porto. Founded by the knights of the Holy Sepulchre, it was for a time occupied by monks and nuns of the Order of Saint Augustine. The church has an impressive portal with four pointed arches, a feature which is repeated on the north side with two arches and the Maltese cross. Inside, the church has two naves and the walls are decorated with panels of plants and animals.
