Approximately 12 km northwest of Torres Vedras are the various Santa Cruz beaches, Navio, Mirante, Pisão, Física, Centro, Santa Helena, Formosa and Azul; each named after its respective café. Santa Cruz is a highly popular tourist resort known for its clean waters and sands and its picturesque surrounding landscapes. The beaches are suitable for both surfing and body boarding, there are facilities for the disabled and umbrellas may be hired. The average seawater temperature in summer is 17-18°C. A large range of seasonal facilities are available locally.
