The Santa Ana doorway is one of the three castle entrances and was given its name because it provided access to the original chapel of Santa Ana, which was destroyed in the 1755 earthquake. At the end of the 18th century a new church was dedicated to Santa Ana. The main Chapel has a wooden altar piece, which is believed to have been made by the masters Francisco Xavier Guedelha and Joćo Baptista. Another altar piece holding Our Lady of Pain and an image of the Crucifixion of Christ sculpted in wood are both worth viewing.
