Located next to the River Dão, in the village after which it is named, Sangemil Spa is about 20 km southwest of Viseu in a valley surrounded by vineyards and orchards. Some of the springs have their origin in the bed of the river and the water is sulphurous, bicarbonated, sodic and fluorinated with a pH level of 8.6. It is recommended for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory system, rheumatism and musculoskeletal diseases and there are programmes for both preventive and regenerative treatments. There is accommodation in season and there are facilities for the disabled.
