The Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Piedade (Sanctuary of Our Lady of Piety) is found just outside Odemira, about 500 metres from the Mira Bridge in the direction of the Algarve. Nossa Senhora da Piedade is the patron saint of the municipality of Odemira and enjoys major popular devotion in the region. The annual pilgrimage from the town to the sanctuary is held on September 7 and 8 and is one of the most important festivities in the annual religious calendar, animated with fireworks and musical performances.
