Salão is a village located between Cedros and Ribeirinha, on the northern coast of the island. Up to the earthquake of 1998, there was a church of Our Lady of Help from 1780 with a small cemetery in front. The bridges of the parish have already been rebuilt and life is back to normal. Following the narrow road down to the little quay of Salão, a magnificent panoramic view of Faial’s northern coast can be admired. The nice natural swimming pool and the adjacent camping site are additional reasons for a longer stay.
