The Núcleo Rural de Ervidel (Rural Museum) has been set up to show life as it used to be in Alentejo. The rooms of a typical Alentejo cottage have been reconstructed using the hand crafted furniture, implements and pottery from times gone by. The museum offers guided tours with explanations of how the cottagers would have lived and gives a history of the region. From descriptions of animal husbandry to working a potter’s wheel, all is presented as realistically as possible to the way people lived.
