The area between the Praça do Comercio and the Rossio, centred on the pedestrian Rua Augusta, offers plenty of interest. In the Rua Augusta, look back through the Triumphal Arch which frames the monument to King José I beyond. This is the main street, lined with boutiques and open air cafes, but you should also wander along the parallel streets of Rua da Prata, Rua Aurea, and Rua dos Correiros. In the last named, look in the window at the rear of the Banco Comercial Portugês building where you will see a part of the Roman bath ruins and mosaics.
