The Ruínas romanas de Miróbriga (Roman Ruins of Miróbriga) are the remains of a fortified settlement dating from the Bronze and Iron Ages. The area once comprised a complete city of Roman architecture. The city must have held enormous power as this was building on a major scale. Visitors to the site can still see the remains of temples, a commercial area, thermal baths, pavements, a hippodrome and many other structures. The Roman circus (measuring 360 metres by 74 metres) was a major performance venue during the city’s period of prominence and had seating capacity for 25,000 spectators.
