The Quinta da Abicada is a Roman archaeological site at the confluence of two rivers. The highlight is a Roman villa dating from the 1st century AD, which has two peristyles (columned porches or open colonnades in a building that surrounds a court or internal garden) – one hexagonal and the other square-shaped – and pavements decorated with coloured mosaics bearing geometric patterns and stylised designs. These geometrically-shaped polychrome mosaics constitute one of the highlights of this archaeological site. The site has supplied artefacts from the 1st century to the 2nd century.
