The former schoolhouse in the village of Guerreiros do Rio is now home to the River Museum which offers a fascinating insight into the Guadiana River and its history. It has exhibits dealing with the ancient techniques used to catch fish, the life of the fishermen and also of the inhabitants of the surrounding hills. The museum also has a comprehensive display of photographs showing the villages along the Guadiana River, from Vila Real de Santo António till Pomarão. There are boat trips available to explore the river.
