The regional museum is located next to the church of St. Anthony and houses an eclectic collection of archaeological finds from the prehistory as well as Roman mosaics, Moorish oil lamps and pottery. There is also a display of European weapons such as swords, muskets and cannonballs. The museum houses the charter by which King Manuel conferred privileges on Lagos. The most valuable items are the vestments worn during the last mass attended by King Sebastião, before leaving on his ill-fated conquest of Morocco. There is also a diptych dating from the 16th century.
