Portuguese natural sparkling white wines are of excellent quality, being generally fragrant wines with great acidity and rich, earthy fruit flavours; they are also extremely good value for money. Raposeira, in the Távora-Varosa wine-producing region, is one of the best known brands. The Rasposeira Company has been producing sparkling wine since 1898, after studies carried out in the famous Champagne region and local trials. Its cellars in Lamego store the wine in natural conditions in a labyrinth of granite tunnels. Red, rosé and white wines are produced in brut, semi-sweet and sweet varieties.
